Agora Publications is pleased to announce the availability of its entire catalog in a new downloadable mp3 format at a reduced price (see individual items for pricing).

CD versions are indexed to aid in selecting specific audio passages, while mp3 files are optimized for downloading and play as one continuous track.

Our products are divided in three categories:

Theater of the Mind

Our original series was inspired by Plato's dialogues, assuming that Plato himself intended these works to be performed, not as the end but the beginning of a dialectical process that lies at the heart of philosophy. The Theatre of the Mind series currently includes a version of the entirety of Plato's Republic (which can be purchased as a whole, or as separate volumes), as well as several other of Plato's dialogues.

World of the Mind

In addition to dramatized dialogues, we offer translations and oral performances of other "Great Books." The World of the Mind series concentrates on philosophical texts that benefit greatly from clear translation and oral performance.

Our edition of Kant's Foundations of Ethics includes Immanuel Kant's essay "What is Enlightenment" and the Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals.

We also offer a revised version of John Stuart Mill's 1859 publication On Liberty. The present edition is specifically designed to employ the dual nature of rhetoric — oral and written language — and to utilize electronic technology to open Mill's text to contemporary listeners as well as readers.

The Growing Mind

Agora Publications' goal of bringing philosophy to life is also focused on making the foundations of philosophical thought accessible to children. The selections in our Growing Mind series are directed at preschool children, who can listen, appreciate and enjoy, these stories, long before they learn to read and think more deeply about their meaning. As they grow, they can listen again and again to these stories and find additional layers of meaning and explore some of the profound questions of human existence. The use of words and conceptual structure of the stories also contribute to building vocabulary and to modes of thinking that prepare the way for mature states of mind.
